Franz Builds Record Breaking Hot Dog
In order to celebrate our hundred-year anniversary and make it truly memorable, we decided to do something really big. With the news media and officials standing by and with the help of Hill Meat Company in Pendleton, Oregon*, we built the longest hot dog and bun in the world– one hundred and four feet and nine inches long to be exact. But getting there was no easy task.
Dreaming big sometimes requires a lot of well thought out planning and perfect execution. After carefully considering what would be required to bake a continuous, hundred-foot long hot dog bun, we first determined that one of the factory windows would have to be removed. On top of that, we had to build the longest baking pan in the world as the bread was fed into the ovens. Remarkably, all that extra effort and planning worked out without a hitch and our first try was all that was needed to break the world record. What a remarkable feat and an exceptional team effort. Way to go Franz staff and bakers.
